“Citizens should be vigilant and encouraged to report instances of money and liquor distribution by election contestants or their supporters through the C Vigil App,” stated the Election Commissioner of India, Arun Goel, during a video conference with the election observers of the Telangana state. The meeting was held ahead of the state assembly polls set for November 30.
During the video conference, Goyal emphasized the need for uncompromising surveillance in border areas of Kothagudem district, such as Chetti and Ashwaraopeta, to prevent illegal inflow of money, liquor, and Ganjai. In the meeting, Sanjeev Kumar Paul, the expenditure observer for Pinapaka and Bhadrachalam constituencies, reported that essential amenities, including power, drinking water supply, and facilities for convenient voting for the disabled and elderly, have been arranged and are regularly inspected.
Goyal added, “Voter information receipts must be handed over to the polling officers. All CCTV cameras should be checked for proper functioning, and video recording of individuals shall not be tolerated.”
Additional instructions covered the presence of postal ballot personnel at polling stations, the availability of election observers to address concerns of individual constituency contestants, oversight of the operation and working of FS-SST (Flying Squads and Static Surveillance Teams), training of micro-observers by appointed observers, and a strict police presence near polling stations. These measures aim to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process in the upcoming state election. Participating in the meeting were Illandu Hari Kishore, the Pinapaka observer; Kamal Kishore, the Kothagudem observer; S. Ganesh, the observer for Ashwaraopeta and Bhadrachalam; Sanjeev Kumar Pal, the expenditure observer for Pinapaka and Bhadrachalam; as well as Police Observers Swapna Shekhar and Jayant Singh.
