Kothagudem:(j365news): “Severe vigilance and punitive legal action will be taken against scanning centers conducting prenatal gender tests,” said Dr. J.V.L. Sireesha, DMHO (District Medical and Health Officer) of Kothagudem district, in a PC-PNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) advisory meeting conducted in her presence. In the meeting, resolutions regarding the permit of 6 newly constructed scanning centers and 4 renewals were passed. Speaking to the gathering, she also added that the scanning centers established in regions with a higher rate of abortions and lower girl-child numbers will be inspected, and awareness-raising programs will be conducted to educate the people in the region.
