Manuguru,18 nov (J365news): Principal Dr. Bhukya Srinivas of Government Degree College, Manuguru, emphasized the need to instill a sense of civic duty in students as he addressed the gathering of participants in the NSS- Pillala Kosam Community Volunteer program. Highlighting the importance of social and community service, Dr. Srinivas stressed the active involvement of students in these initiatives.

Explaining the program motto “Not me, But you,” Dr. Bhukya Srinivas emphasized that it’s a great opportunity for students to help society. The Pillala Kosam Community Volunteer program, conducted under the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Telangana, involves students from degree colleges in various social activities. The NSS Regional Director, M Ramakrishna, has taken many steps to amplify participation of students.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service program run by the Indian government’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Major General Jagannath Rao Bhonsle first proposed the idea of NSS. The NSS symbol is based on the giant Rath Wheel of the famous Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, India. This wheel represents the cycle of creation, preservation, and release, symbolizing the NSS’s continuous effort for social change. The eight bars in the wheel stand for the 24 hours of a day. The red color indicates that NSS volunteers are full of youthful energy, while the navy blue color represents the cosmos, of which NSS is a small part, ready to contribute to the welfare of humanity.
