An awareness program on Darwin’s Theory of Evolution was conducted today at the Government Degree College in Manuguru under the auspices of Jana Vignana Vedika. The event was attended by the college principal, Bhadraiah, as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he appreciated the efforts of Jana Vignana Vedika in promoting scientific temper among students. He emphasized that their initiatives play a crucial role in countering superstitions, fostering interest in science, and inspiring students to pursue scientific research. Dr. Sheikh Meera Hussain, the keynote speaker, explained the concept of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to the students, detailing the origin of life on Earth, the stages of evolution, and the reasons behind species extinction. He also discussed the limitations of scientific theories.
Another speaker, M. Reddy Indrasena Reddy, elaborated on Jana Vignana Vedika’s initiatives to instill scientific reasoning in students. He highlighted the role of Chekumuki, a monthly magazine, in disseminating scientific knowledge and encouraged students to contribute their writings, questions, and research findings to the publication. He urged students to maintain a continuous interest in science. The event was attended by TSUTF Mandal President Bollu Ayyalaiah, Nagula Jyothi from Action for Integrated Development, lecturers from the Government Degree College, and several students, making it a successful awareness session.
